A great deal of our effort as plastic surgeons is spent in treating and improving scars and there is often a lot to offer patients in this regard.
Fresh scars in the first 4-6 weeks are often active, red, and firm to touch. It can take 6-12 months before scars fully flatten and become a fine white line (“scar maturation”). This does depend to a large extent on your individual genetic and biochemical makeup but the simple instructions given in this section should help with obtaining the best possible outcome.
